In Myanmar we have now 36 Students
mostly from IT, Medicine, Economics, Civil Engineering, Education, International Relation, Nursing. Every student get a monthly support with 500, 000 Kyat, the payment is in the first week of every month
40% of the students stand top positions in class with the remaining 60% doing excellent in their both semester exams with good results in addition to the extra learning of their interest for the future career. Compared to the students of 5 years or earlier, many of our current students become more matured and well behaved like an adult, more calm and can cope with stress far better.
Many of our students continue to plant trees in the rainy season and continue to take care of their plants they grew last year. Students joined social organizations to contribute to the flood victims although we could not do ourselves as a team. Senior medicine students could donate cash or medicines to the patients of poor family backgrounds. Students are grateful that they share their monthly financial support with their families at this time of difficulty.
After graduation it is mandatory for the Medicine students, Education students, Nursing students and Medical Tech students to serve three years for the government while others will join freely at any business organizations in big cities. According to our graduated students, they do all get a job after studies. Moreover, they said that their service performance was well appreciated and promoted by the employers wherever they went.
Although students' academic performance is outstanding as in previous years, frequent fighting in some areas significantly had great effect on students' families and it impact students' emotional wellbeing while coping with their studies. The mandatory military service is also alarming for our students although students are still exception until now. Travelling with or personal meeting with young people still needs to be cautious. Internet is inaccessible in some conflict areas and so some of our students cannot contact their mentors when they are on holidays.
Last but not least, Stiftunglife Student program changed the lives of the young people. Without the program, they would never be at the Universities. We need more educated young people whatever circumstances prevail to keep the beauty of Myanmar shining. I am deeply grateful to all mentors and the foundation for such generous support and the guidance as we can still continue to nurture limited number of talented young people for our bright future. Many greetings and fond regards, Khin
